Local SEO Case Studies: What I Changed for 8 Businesses, Before and After

A car accessories shop in Bengaluru, a dessert cafe in Mangaluru, a nature stay near Kasaragod and a social media studio in Calgary, plus four more. What was broken on Google, Maps and their websites, what I changed, how much faster the new sites are, and what the numbers say so far. Nothing here is made up, and nothing that hasn’t been measured yet is claimed.

The short version

  • SZ Cars Accessories, Bengaluru: Google profile rebuilt in one day. 1 category became 7, 0 services became 21, the pin moved onto the shop, a duplicate profile was removed, and a 7-page website went live.
  • Speed, measured on 3 November 2026 (PageSpeed Insights, mobile): The Nest’s main content now loads in 3.4 s, down from 33.0 s on its old site. The new SZ Cars and Waffee House sites score 99 out of 100.
  • In all seven finished audits, the same root problem came up: basic facts that were wrong, missing or different between Google, the website and social media.
  • No ranking or call numbers yet, on purpose. The starting positions are on record, and the same searches get checked again at day 30, 60 and 90.

How to read these case studies

Every business here is real and named. Each one is at a different stage, so they fall into two groups:

  • Case studies are clients where the work is done and the before and after is on record. So far that’s SZ Cars Accessories.
  • Audits are the growth reports I hand over before the work starts. Several of them come with a website I’ve already built. When a client goes ahead, their audit becomes a case study.

Three rules apply throughout. No prices, because every quote is built for one business. No results I haven’t measured: rankings take weeks to move, and I’d rather show you a baseline than invent a percentage. And every figure has a date and a source, so you can check it. The full gallery, with report pages, is on the case studies page.

Case study: SZ Cars Accessories, Bengaluru

SZ Cars Accessories is a shop in Dasarahalli, Bengaluru that does PPF, ceramic coating, detailing, car audio, lights and seat covers. Google knew it only as a “car stereo store”. The pin was in the wrong place, there was a duplicate profile in the owner’s account, there were no services listed and there was no website.

Where it started on Google Maps

I searched from around the shop on 28 October 2026, before changing anything:

Search SZ’s position
car audio#2
car accessories near me#2
car accessories#11
ppf coatingNot in top 20
ceramic coatingNot in top 20
car detailingNot in top 20
android stereo for carNot in top 20
car seat coversNot in top 20
car modificationNot in top 20

The shop showed for audio because “car stereo store” was its only category. For everything else it sells, it was invisible.

After: the SZ Cars Accessories Google profile services list, each service with a description
After: 21 services on Google, each with its own description. Before, there were none.

Results so far, honestly

Every change is saved, but customers don’t see them yet. Google shows profile edits only after it verifies the profile. The shop’s video check was rejected, and Google allows no more attempts, so verification is going through Google support with the shop’s documents.

That means no call or ranking numbers yet. Calls, direction requests and website clicks only show after verification. The nine searches above get checked again from the same place at day 30 (27 November 2026), day 60 and day 90, and the results go on the case studies page, whatever they show.

One thing I can measure today is the new website. szcarsaccessories.netlify.app scored 99 out of 100 for mobile performance on 3 November 2026, with its main content showing in 1.5 seconds. Google’s “good” line is 2.5 seconds.

Still to do for SZ: verification, daylight shop photos and a new cover photo, updating the shop board (it still shows an old address), Search Console and analytics, and a proper domain.

The speed change: old sites against new

Three of the eight businesses now have a website I built. Here is each one against what was there before. The “after” numbers are a single PageSpeed Insights mobile run each, on 3 November 2026, so expect a little variation from run to run.

Business Before After: new site
The Nest, Kasaragod One-page Google Site, not in Google’s index. Main content in 33.0 s on a phone (audit, 29 Oct) 8 pages. Main content in 3.4 s, performance score 92
SZ Cars Accessories, Bengaluru No website 7 pages. Main content in 1.5 s, performance score 99
Waffee House, Mangaluru The Instagram bio link opened a placeholder page 39 pages. Main content in 1.6 s, performance score 99. Lighthouse SEO score 100 on launch day

The Nest’s new site is about ten times faster than the old one, but 3.4 seconds is still above Google’s 2.5-second line, so there is work left to do there before it launches. Both The Nest and Waffee House are on preview addresses, hidden from Google until each owner approves the site and picks a domain.

The new eight-page website for The Nest Nature Retreat, Koipady, with WhatsApp and call buttons
The Nest’s new site: eight pages, each aimed at a search travellers make, with WhatsApp and call buttons on every one.

Other businesses have “before” speed numbers but no “after” yet, because the work hasn’t started: Ezy India’s home page took 18.2 s to show its main image on a phone, Hashtag Assistant’s main photo took 7.1 s, and Stellar Living’s main content took 4.3 s. Why speed matters for leads, and what the numbers mean, is in my Core Web Vitals guide for marketers.

What the other audits found

These are the six growth reports I handed over in October 2026, plus one still being written. Each one moves up to a case study when the work is done and the results are in.

Waffee House, Kankanady, Mangaluru

A dessert cafe with 1,846 Google reviews at 4.3 stars, more than any dessert cafe shown beside it, and no website. It came first on Maps for “waffles in mangalore”, but didn’t show at all for “dessert cafe in mangalore”, “best cafe in mangalore” or even “cafe in kankanady”. It had three different phone numbers on Google, Zomato and Instagram. I built a 39-page site: the full menu of 160 items, 10 product pages, 6 blog posts and 11 recipes, then audited my own build on launch day and handed over 13 fixes. Status: website built, launch waiting on the domain and brand approval.

Ezy India, Mangaluru

A doorstep car and bike wash with a 5.0 rating from 32 reviews, found in 0 of 6 customer searches. No prices anywhere on the site, and every Book button opened an app store. The service itself is strong. Everything broken was marketing. Status: 19-page audit with the founder.

Stellar Living, Mangaluru

An architecture and interior design studio with strong projects, but 10 Google reviews against 136 to 197 for the three studios shown first. No service pages for “architects” or “interior designers in Mangalore”, and three details that disagreed between Google and the website. Status: 14-page local SEO audit with the owner.

The Nest Nature Retreat, Koipady, Kasaragod

24 of 24 Google reviews at five stars, each with a personal reply from the host, yet in the top ten for 0 of 12 traveller searches and #24 on Maps for “homestay” around Kumbla. Check-out and check-in were entered as opening hours, so Google told travellers the stay closes at 11 every morning. Searching its name brought up eight other places called “Nest”. Status: 20-page report and 8-page website done; Google profile first, before Christmas week.

Trevio Global, Hebbal, Bengaluru

A travel platform for agents that also sells holidays directly. All seven Google reviews are five stars, none answered. It showed up in 1 of 11 searches, had no phone number on Google or the website, and its server sent a page with 0 words: the text only appears once JavaScript runs, so many AI crawlers and link previews see a blank page. Status: 20-page report done.

Hashtag Assistant Inc., Calgary, Canada

A social media and website studio rated 5.0 from 15 reviews, missing from 0 of 10 Calgary searches. Google Maps had stored the profile in Nunavut, 1,684 km away, and both home-page service buttons opened “No products found”. Status: 19-page report done.

Vaikari Consultants, Kumbla, Kasaragod

A civil engineering and building consultancy. Status: the audit is being written; it goes on the case studies page when it’s done.

The pattern across all eight

Business Biggest gap First fix
SZ Cars AccessoriesWrong name, pin and category; no servicesRebuild the Google profile (done)
Waffee HouseNo website; three phone numbersLaunch the site, claim the Google profile, one phone number everywhere
Ezy IndiaNot found in 0 of 6 searches; booking breaksGoogle profile and Maps, then a booking path with prices
Stellar LivingReviews and service pagesMatching details, a review plan, service pages
The NestListed as a villa with shop hoursSet the profile up as a place to stay
Trevio GlobalBlank page for crawlers; no phoneOne name, phone and address everywhere; server-rendered home page
Hashtag AssistantPin 1,684 km from CalgaryPut the profile in Calgary with the right categories and services
Vaikari ConsultantsAudit in progress

Read down the middle column and one thing stands out: most of these are not “we need more content” or “we need ads” problems. They are basic facts that were wrong, missing or different from one place to the next. Fixing that is the one change that helps Google rankings, AI answers and GEO at the same time. I’ve explained why, and how to do it yourself, in the growth report and the one fix for SEO, AI SEO and GEO.

What happens next

  • SZ Cars: Maps re-checks at day 30 (27 November 2026), day 60 and day 90, the same nine searches from the same place, published whatever they show.
  • Audits become case studies when a client goes ahead and the work is done. The report page, the before-and-after screenshots and the re-checks all go on the case studies page.
  • Testimonials go up word for word when a client gives one. There is no “trusted by” strip of brands I never worked with.

Frequently asked questions

Are these real businesses?

Yes. Every business is named, and the report pages and screenshots are on the case studies page. Seven are in India (Mangaluru, Bengaluru and Kasaragod) and one is in Calgary, Canada.

Why are there no ranking or lead numbers yet?

Because they haven’t been measured yet. Google shows profile changes only after it verifies the profile, and rankings take weeks to move. I record the starting positions first, then check the same searches at day 30, 60 and 90 and publish what they show.

How much faster are the new websites?

The Nest’s main content loads in 3.4 seconds on a phone, down from 33.0 seconds on its old site. The new SZ Cars and Waffee House sites scored 99 out of 100 for mobile performance, with main content in 1.5 and 1.6 seconds. All three were measured with PageSpeed Insights on 3 November 2026.

What was the most common problem?

Basic business facts that were wrong, missing or different between Google, the website and social media: the wrong pin, several phone numbers, the wrong category or hours, or a website that search tools couldn’t read.

Can I get a report like these for my business?

Yes. Send me your website or Google listing. The first look is free, and I’ll tell you the first thing I’d fix.
