What Google Search Console does

Not an AI tool, and included deliberately. Search Console is the only source of first-party data about how your site performs in Google: the actual queries you appear for, your real click-through rates, indexing problems and Core Web Vitals. Every third-party SEO tool is estimating what this shows you exactly.

How marketers actually use it

Open the Performance report, set the date range to the last three months, and sort by impressions with low clicks. Those are queries where Google already shows you and nobody clicks — usually a title tag problem, and usually the cheapest SEO win available to you.

Best for

  • Seeing the real queries bringing you traffic
  • Finding pages ranking on page two that need one push
  • Diagnosing why a page is not indexed
  • Validating what your paid SEO tools estimate

Watch out for

Query data is sampled and filtered, and the interface hides its best insights behind filters most people never touch.

Google Search Console FAQ

Is Google Search Console free?

Completely free for any site you can verify ownership of. There is no paid tier.

Is Search Console better than third-party SEO tools?

For your own site, yes — it is first-party data straight from Google. Third-party tools estimate what Search Console tells you exactly. You want both, but start here.

Why is Search Console on a list of AI tools?

Because a list that is artificially AI-only is less useful to a marketer. Search Console is the foundation everything else sits on, and leaving it out to keep a theme tidy would be a disservice.

How long does Search Console take to show data?

A couple of days after verification, and it only reports from the point of verification onward — it does not backfill history. That alone is a reason to set it up today rather than later.

What is the most useful Search Console report?

Performance, filtered to queries with high impressions and low clicks. Those are terms Google already ranks you for that nobody clicks — usually a title and meta description problem, and the cheapest win available.
