ChatGPT Review
AI Assistant · AI Assistants & Research
The default all-rounder — drafting, research, data analysis and custom GPTs in one place.
Our take
If you only ever pay for one AI tool, make it this one. The breadth is what wins — it is not the best writer or the best analyst, but it is good enough at both that it collapses a stack of smaller tools into a single tab.

What ChatGPT does
For most marketers this is the first AI tool worth learning properly, because it replaces the widest range of small tasks. It writes and rewrites copy, cleans up spreadsheets, summarises call transcripts, builds first-draft briefs, and with Projects and custom GPTs you can save a brand voice and reuse it instead of re-explaining yourself every session.
How marketers actually use it
A typical week looks like this: paste last month’s Google Ads search-terms export and ask it to group the queries by intent; feed it your three best-performing ads and ask for ten variants on the strongest angle; drop in a 40-minute sales call transcript and ask which objections came up more than once. None of that is glamorous, and all of it used to take hours.
Best for
- First-draft ad copy, emails and landing page sections
- Turning messy research or call notes into a structured brief
- Analysing a CSV export without touching a formula
- Building a reusable custom GPT for your brand voice
Watch out for
It is confidently wrong about facts, statistics and recent events. Treat every claim as a draft to verify, never as a source.

Is ChatGPT free for marketers?
Yes. The free tier handles most everyday marketing tasks. ChatGPT Plus at around $20/mo adds higher limits, faster responses and earlier access to new models — worth it once you are using it daily.
Can I publish ChatGPT content for clients?
You can, but never unedited. It invents statistics and misattributes quotes, so every factual claim needs verifying, and the prose needs a human pass to strip the tell-tale rhythm before it goes anywhere near a client.
ChatGPT or Claude for marketing copy?
Claude writes better prose and holds a brand voice more reliably. ChatGPT is stronger at analysis, data work and custom GPTs. Marketers who use both tend to draft in Claude and analyse in ChatGPT.
Does Google penalise content written with ChatGPT?
No — Google judges quality and usefulness, not how text was produced. What gets penalised is thin, unedited, unhelpful content, which is what unedited AI output usually is. Edit it properly and it is treated like anything else.
What is a custom GPT and should a marketer build one?
A saved configuration with your instructions, brand voice and reference files baked in. It is worth building one if you repeat the same kind of task weekly — it removes re-explaining your context every session.
