An approximation, not a pixel-exact render.

Facebook & LinkedIn

No image yet — a card without one is much less likely to be clicked.

Your title appears here

Your description appears here.

Both platforms read the same Open Graph tags. LinkedIn shows slightly less description text.

X (Twitter)

Without an image, X falls back to a small summary card.

This is the summary_large_image card. Without twitter:card, X shows a much smaller thumbnail.

Checks

How it works

  1. Enter the page URL, title, description, site name and the Open Graph image address.
  2. The previews update as you type. The image is loaded directly by your browser, so you find out straight away whether it is reachable and what shape it is.
  3. Watch for text that gets clipped. Facebook and LinkedIn show roughly two lines of title; X shows one on narrow screens.
  4. Copy the matching meta tags when the preview looks right, and paste them into your page head.

Why this matters

A shared link is a piece of advertising you do not get to redo. If the image is missing or the title is cut mid-word, the post underperforms and there is no way to fix it after the fact — platforms cache the preview, sometimes for weeks.

The most common problem is an image that is the wrong shape. Platforms crop to roughly 1.91:1, so a square image loses its top and bottom, and text placed near an edge disappears. 1200 × 630 pixels is the size that works everywhere.

The second most common problem is no image at all, because the og:image URL is relative rather than absolute. Crawlers resolve it from their own domain, not yours, so it silently 404s. This tool flags that.

Questions

Is this a live preview of my real page?

No — and it deliberately does not pretend to be. It renders whatever values you type, so you can design the card before the page exists.

To read the tags off a page that is already live, use the SEO page checker, which fetches the page and reports the Open Graph tags it actually finds.

What image size should I use?

1200 × 630 pixels, under about 1 MB, in JPG or PNG. That satisfies Facebook, LinkedIn and X at once. Below 600 × 315 most platforms drop to a small square thumbnail instead of a large card.

I updated my tags but the old preview still shows. Why?

Platforms cache aggressively. Facebook's Sharing Debugger and LinkedIn's Post Inspector both have a "scrape again" button that forces a refresh. X clears on its own, but it can take a day.

Does LinkedIn use Open Graph?

Yes. LinkedIn reads standard og: tags and has no proprietary set of its own, which is why the Facebook-style preview here doubles as the LinkedIn preview.
